- Niku no Suzukiya / 肉のスズキヤ
A family butcher in the Tohyama valley of southern Nagano, selling wild bear, boar, and venison from contract hunters, plus its own jingisu marinated meats.

Suzukiya opened as a butcher in Tohyama, at the southern tip of Nagano, in 1957. The second-generation owner, Osamu Suzuki, now runs it as a meat processor and shop built around two house brands: Tohyama Jingisu and Tohyama Gibier.
Its bear meat is wild Asian black bear, mostly from the Ina valley, bought only from contract hunters it trusts. The shop says bear is taken in small numbers compared with deer and boar, so supply comes in waves and the best fatty cuts sell out first.
Meat is processed and packed at Suzukiya’s own plant in Tohyama and shipped frozen nationwide. Several bear cuts are made to order, so the shop cannot take a delivery date for them.
